Website of the Week

The website I recommend this week is truly amazing:
Ishkur; your Guide trough the history of Music to Electronic Music
It's a guide which takes us trough a history of music starting with for example the early hiphop from the westside, eastside but also early forms of rave, hardcore and techno. What makes it special is the way you can interact with the interface!
You can click and choose your way trough the history of music; with a single click you can here previews of different genres. Don't forget to read the short stories; it's interesting and entertaining too! Par example:Trance, Techno, Breakbeat, Hardcore, Jungle, Downtempo etc.

Believe me; nostalgic. I heard a lot of songs I used to play when I was a little kid.

Ishkur.

Jimi love

It's a shame..

Prince - Purple Rain

Of course, my fellow black mate next to Jimi Hendrix; Prince!
An incredible star! Master on the guitar, queen on the stage. His style is incredible.
High heels, blazers, tops, skinny's, make up and one hell of a guitar.. this guy is all it!

Everybody knows the movie: Purple Rain. It's one of my favourite movies and it always makes me cry.
For everybody who doesn't know Purple Rain, a summary:
A young man with a talent for music has begun a career with much promise. He meets an aspiring singer, Apollonia, and finds that talent alone isn't all that he needs. A complicated tale of his repeating his father's self destructive behavior, losing Apollonia to another singer (Morris Day), and his coming to grips with his own connection to other people ensues.
(source: imdb)

At the end of the movie, he plays the part called Purple Rain! It has an amazing, wonderfull, wonderschön and brilliant solo innit.
Also one of the reasons I started with playing. This 'Purple-Rain-Part' is hairraising for me.
He puts so much feeling in it.
Please listen to it! Damn
They don't make this kind of music anymore!

I also admire his great collection of rare guitars. You should look at all the shapes and sorts.
If I could make one wish for a guitar; I would wish a Signed Prince Guitar(hint).

Much respect for Prince!

Matter of taste. Apache..

This one is an old one!
My guitarteacher advised to try and play this 'Apache'. It's one long solo with different sort of techniques.
You might get the feeling that this song sounds like a part in a westernmovie.
It's called:

The Shadows - Apache.

This song written by Jerry Lordan and recorded originally by British group:
The Shadows in June 1960 at the famous EMI Abbey Road Studio in London and released on July 1960.
Far before my date of birth LOL.
This kind of soloplay was kinda new in the 60's.

It's not a hard song to try on your guitar. It's with slides, bends and some picking.

True Legend

I'm talking about Jimi Hendrix of course.

This piece of art, cause it's really art.. is incredible.
Only Audio.
This guy puts some much emotion in this song imo.
You should really listen to it. This is one of the reasons I started with playing.
It's just genious, raelly genious how you can make a thing like this.
RIP

Nylon

Okay, I don't expect that I'm a pro-musician already but damn it's hard to bring up the patience for this.

I copped myself a Gomez, a classic guitar with nylon strings but since I play my little bird(stratocaster), this Gomez feels like a real b*tch. Damn..
But hey, it's all about, patient, love for music and.. nothing less than music so I should stop complaining and start playing! But hey, the two picture perfect next to eachother right?

I'm busy with teaching myself an old classic now.
It's called: Albatross by Fleetwood Mac.
Istant classic imo.
"Albatross" is a guitar-based instrumental by Fleetwood Mac, released as a single in 1969. The piece was composed by Peter Green.

The composition suggests a relaxing sea setting, with cymbals imitating the sound of waves and a dreamy solo from Green's guitar. It contains only two chords, Emaj7 and F#m, and could be seen as an early ambient work.
(source: YouTube).

They don't make this kind of music anymore.. it's peacefull.
This 'piece' is so slow that you should play it without any misplaced chords or something.. so here I am, as a beginner trying to play this.

Well, it's going to be alright.
